Sharp
As one of the pioneers of LED technology, Sharp has recorded a number of industry firsts since it began mass-producing LEDs in 1972. Sharp was the first to manufacture super-high-luminosity LEDs in 1987, the first to develop a common anode high-luminosity dichromatic LED lamp in 1989, the first to introduce a full-colour LED unit in 1992 and the first to produce a lead-less high-luminosity chip LED lamp in 1993. Sharp launched the hitherto thinnest sub-miniature chip LED lamp in 1994 and set another record for the industry's thinnest chip LED in 2000. In 2003 Sharp developed an RGB 3-chip LED with the industry's highest level of luminosity. The launch of ZENIGATA in 2008 and of other high-power LEDs in 2009 is the most recent chapter in this history of LED highlights.
