Need for distance measurement systems in cranes

In the steel industry, slabs, coils in large - scale indoor and outdoor facilities due to the nature of heavy objetcs, such as slabs, coils, steel plates, and containers handled at container terminals. Naturally, heavy products are usually transported by large cranes. When transporting products that are placed in complex facilities or locations, high crane operation technology and safety are required, and efficient handling and heavy obect management and safety must be ensured by an automated system using a range measurement system. It is also required to have environmental resistance because it is installed in severe environments such as large amounts of dust such as steam and smoke, and extreme temperature changes.

To meet these requirements, Analog Devices Symeo has developed and provides customers with sensor systems that integrate hardware and software that are robust, maintenance - free, and easy to install, such as range measurement, location detection, and collision avoidance.

1. LPR ® -1DHP-290 (new)

The LPR ® -1DHP-290 radar system performs accurate 1D distance measurements over short, medium and long distances.

LPR ® -1DHP-290 uses primary, secondary, and diversity radar measurement modes to detect position and speed in real time and to make data available through the device interface. The sensor module is easy to install and easy to operate using the web interface. The directional antenna is built into a sturdy housing. In the toughest weather conditions such as rain, fog, snow, dust, smoke and vibration, and without maintenance or wear, wireless technology is reliable and highly available, both indoors and outdoors.

Primary radar mode

Short distance measurement in the millimeter range

2. LPR ® -1D24

The LPR ® -1D24 is a highly accurate distance measurement and highly reliable collision avoidance sensor module.

A pair of sensor modules enables high - precision long distance measurement. At the same time, measurement data such as the height of the crane hook can be transferred wirelessly. In addition, since the relative approach speed of the sensor module can be obtained, it is possible to realize collision avoidance between cranes and the heavy object by giving arbitrary threshold values to distances and speeds. The sensor modules of the pair can be interconnected with other pairs and send the XY position measurement data of each crane to the management software. Because the multi - channel diversity antenna is built into a sturdy housing, the sensor module can be easily installed and operated, and even over very long distances, rough alignment between opposing units is sufficient for accurate measurements.
